This is the going-out costume of the Imperial Court or a samurai woman.

"Tsubo" is the shortcut of "tsubomeru (=to close)" which means wearing without opening clothes.

That is, it can be tucked up and worn at the time of going out.

Downward, "kosode"and" hitoe" and" uchiki" is piled up.

Top "uchiki" is worn flatly with putting arms through sleeves.

As for this "uchiki", the collar attachment and side openings differ from the ordinary one.

A red "kake-obi" (=belt) is applied to a breast.

And in case of visiting shrines or taking a trip, a charm is hung in front.

The figure in the photo has a sedge hat called "ichime-gasa" in the hand and wears a pair of straw sandals with fat straps at feet.
