In the 12th year of Tensho (1543), the merchant ship of Portugal arrived in Tanegashima island. Since the Portugal people transmitted the gun, the tactics in war of Japan had changed completely. Armors were made only by the griddles, and they were called "gu-soku (=armor for infantryman)". The figure in the photo wears an armor called "okegawa-no-doh" which was made by stripping griddles horizontally. Furthermore, being imitated the European armors in the medieval times, the "okegawa-no-doh" was designed to have a "shinogi (=The place which made high)" point in the center. The "kusazuri" armor, which protects an abdomen part and the thigh is made in "kon-ito-odoshi" style,
which was assembled with dark-blue leather or thread.

A Chinese character "seki (=interrupt and stop" is designed on the "maedate (=standing thing in front)" plate of the "suji-kabuto" helmet in the photo.

The samurai in the photo wears "okisode" protectors in the style of "kon-ito-kebiki-odoshi","haidate" protectors,"kote" protectors, and "suneate" ptotectors.

He sets a black-lacquered "tachi (=bold sword)", a long sword and a "koshi-gatana (=waist sword)", a short sword , at the waist with a "uwa-obi (=outer belt)".

Furthermore, he wears a "jinbaori (= battle surcoat)", made from leather with big and round family crest of the gold leaf on the back.

@ All the set of armors and the battle surcoat are the originals.
