The whole year event 12 figure of the people in Kyoto It is drawn focusing on the plays of children.
The contents of a lunar-calendar monthly picture are as follows:
January: New Year play, "hanetsuki (=shuttlecock is struck)" tennis, "buriburi (=swing & swing)" toy play, "gyoh-choh" wooden hammer play, etc.
February: Play of the waterside. Kite-flying. Fishing.
March: Festival of top snake. "Hina (=dolls)" displaying.

August : The "hassaku" event.
August 1 is called the "Tanomi-no-setsu (= fruit-of-rice-field day)" or "Tanomi-sekku (=a day of trust)".
It celebrated that the crop of rice and , the sovereign, vassals and the friends made good relationship to each other.
The eggplant is presented as a fruit of a rice field.
A tengu, lion dancing, game-of-go play, etc.

September : Chrysanthemum Festival. It was believed that a life would be prolonged if the skin is stroked with the dew of a chrysanthemum. Round cotton is used instead of a chrysanthemum. It is called "kiku-no-kisemen (=cotton of chrysanthemum)".

October : Matsuba battle.
In the Imperial court, since the "Iba-hajime (=opening of shooting ground)" is carried out on October 15th.
The children imitate matsuba (=pine leveave) on arrows and are taking it as a play.
While hiding eyes by the side, the children are doing "zohri-ate (=Japanese-sandals reliance" play.

November : O-hitaki (=Burning fire).
The occupation people handling fire and the ordinary people give away oranges and buns to children thanking fire on this day.

The people are pleased with first snow of the season. Snowball fight play.

December : According to the lunar calendar, the eve of the beginning of spring is the end of the year.
On this day, money and things are given to beggars to drop misfortunes for one year.
