This kimono was one of the marriage tools of a family of the daimyo of the northern domain in the middle stage of Edo era;

It was used as bedding item.

There are two series in bedding of those days: the rectangular "futon" bed and the "yogi (=nightclothes) which has "eri-sode (=collar sleeves)" sleeves.

The name of the"yogi" began to be used from the Momoyama era. It was used for the Saikaku's "Koshoku-ichidai-otoko (=the sensual single generation man)" in the Edo era.

Like the "joh-i (=everyday clothes)", the "yagi" of Japan is made into large size, and is written to be half the 1 body to "the Wakan Sansai Zue (=Japan/China Age-of-three Paintings" )[1711] . The night arrival of Japan is written to be half the 1 body by large like a everyday wear.

It is completely the same as that of the size currently described at "Morisada-mankoh", a drawing book.

It is graceful to until this much, and the perfect night arrival of preservation does not have an example in others; it is very rare.
